Do you think ever since Tiger Woods scandel he has had a STEP BACK in his career?

Q.

A. I don't think it's so much the scandal as the knee injuries. He's had a couple knee surgeries on the crucial left knee. I've had a left knee injury and after enduring a LOT of pain you really baby that knee. It seems he's fixed it this year, but he's adjusted his swing to accommodate the knee. I don't think he mentally has the confidence that he had when he was young and healthy. Although watching him recently I think the putter is the problem more than his knee or swing. He also had Lasik eye surgery early in his career and perhaps the eyes are changing as he ages too. Getting old sucks, but there are no other viable alternatives.

When people get laser eye surgery... why don't they get 20/15 eye sight instead?
Q. I hear that people get 20/20 vision.

Which is good. But I recently heard that tiger woods got 20/15 eyesight to help him with his playing.

So why don't other people do the same thing? If it makes their eyesight great ... then why not? What is the reason?

A. A person with 20/20 with glasses or contacts could theoretically get 20/15 with LASIK. Now that we have realized the importance of something called "higher-order aberrations" we can in theory make someone's visual acuity better than before the surgery. Lasers are very precise, shaping the eye down to something on the order of a millionth of a centimeter. The great unknown with LASIK, however is the healing of the eye after the surgery. That is why most doctors will not say that they guarantee you to see 20/15 (or even 20/20 or 20/30) after the surgery. You could even wind up seeing less after the LASIK surgery than you did with your glasses or contact lenses before. It's a roll of the dice! Many people are very happy with their vision after the LASIK, but a significant percentage are not.

Doc

lasik eye surgery????
Q. How old do you have to be to get lasik eye surgery?
And if you've had it done what was it like?
thanks

A. I believe that you have to be at least 18 to have it.

I had mine in October of '06 and I can't tell you how glad I am that I did!

I had pretty poor vision and was getting a prescription change twice a year...for glasses & contacts! My eyes were so tired, they became irritated by all contacts, so I had to switch to glasses only. Finally, I realized that the expense of all of these tests & prescriptions was out of control, so I go the surgery!
I had a consultation, where the office explained EVERYTHING wonderfully! They gave details about it all. The following week, I went in at 7 a.m. and left the office at about 9 a.m. with my vision! The procedure itself took only about 10 minutes. The rest was numbing eye drops, resting afterward, etc.
I highly recommend a TON of research into the place you choose to have it done. If they have great bedside manners and are willing to take time to explain everything, keep them!

This link may have answers, too. It's where I got mine done (and the same doc that did Tiger Woods' surgery!).
Good luck & if you have more specific questions about the procedure, feel free to ask me.

What is your stand on steroids?
Q. Anabolic steroids remain one of the most controversial topics in American culture. Many of Americas icons use steroids and human growth hormone but some people arent aware of it. Steroids and HGH or any other form of performance enhancement are used commonly by Baseball players, track runners, professional wrestlers, and body builders. Many people consider steroids to be cheating and others use it to get an edge on others, help their self image, people want to have power. Another reason is that for some, their jobs depend on it, the pro wrestler who uses it so he can keep his job or the football player to get stronger and faster. Although due to the unpopular side effects of steroids, many people benefit from it, like how one HIV patient relies on it to stay alive. The question that needs to be answered is whether or not steroids should be regarded as cheating in sports. Do you think it is equally fair for the bike rider who sleeps in a high altitude chamber to be able to receive higher amounts of oxygen in his body to get the edge? How about Tiger Woods who received Lasik eye surgery giving him superior vision over what is already considered perfect 20/20 vision? What is cheating and fair play in sports?

Yeah so i wrote this lil background thing real quick. This would help me a lot for my class. I need 3 different views of steroids and why they're bad or good, or neither. thanks

A. Steroids and HGH are cheating because they are banned in every major sport. Regardless of health effects, opinions, or hearsay if there is a rule in the sport you participate against you performing a certain action, you are clearly breaking the rules if you do that action.

No athlete is required to use steroids. If an athlete uses steroids, they are breaking the law, and the rules of their sports! This is not arbitrary or up for discussion, the rules and laws are clear.

Steroids and HGH are clearly performance enhancement drugs, and if one person is using while another is not, the user will have an advantage.

Now, rules aside, are Steroids and HGH deadly? Not if used properly and moderately. There are very few health problems that have been conclusively or even strongly linked to either drug. Most reports of roid rage, hair loss, testicle shrinkage, heart problems, and other are urban myths, or are an unrelated/unprofessional diagnosis. The majority of users experience no detrimental health effects. Those that do experience problems typically abuse the drugs or use them in unsafe methods. Too much of anything can have sever effects on your health, just like Tylenol.
