Was that Quick or what...?
Q. 1) Last night Alex Pietrangelo of the Blues scored from center ice on the Kings' Jonathan Quick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INYpYGZz6yE What is the worst goal that a goalie has let in this year?
2) On Tuesday night John-Micheal Liles of the Colorado Avalanche got hurt in a game against Minnesota. With that injury, every player on the Avs roster has missed a game due to injury this year. Additionally, the Avs have lost more than 358 man games to injury this year, second most in the NHL. Does any of this manage to keep Joe Sacco his job for next year?
3) The Devils have 12 games left, meaning if they win out, they will reach 94 points in total. Will they make the playoffs?
4) On Wednesday night, Canucks forward Manny Malholtra took a puck to the eye and has had surgery on it. Is it time the NHL made visors mandatory? If so, when can you see such actions taking place?
5) These are the current IIHF World Rankings: 1-Russia, 2-Canada, 3-Sweden, 4-Finland, 5-Czech, 6-USA. What does Rene Fasel and company smoke?

A. 1) That was
2) He lost his job with the 18 points in thelast 38 games
3) If they win out....yes, fewer OT/SO games this year means 8th place will be in the mid 80s
4) It was time years ago, the NHLPA has said this is a non-issue in the next set of collective bargaining and it not up for discussion. I totally support the NHLPA on this one.
5) Hockey Canada has the same rankings..........so Fasel is smoking the same thing as Bob Nicholson

Do i have enough experience that is needed to get an acting agent?
Q. I am 14 years old, 58.5, 130lbs, blonde, fair skinned, and I have blue eyes.
I have a pretty good natural talent for acting and I love it. My experience so far is performing in plays all over my community (7) and I have seen hundreds! I have done two print ads, and I have training in the following:
Improv comedy (at my community center for 8 months)
Acting basics (private lessons for a year)
Chorus Singing (in church, school, and private choirs for 5 years)
Dancing: 6 ½ years (OSS dance company)
Hip hop- 6 ½ years (OSS dance company)
Ballet-4 ½ years (Princess OSS dance company)
Jazz- 2 years (, OSS dance company)
Flute- 4 years
My special skills are Swimming, bike riding, public speaking, great with children, skiing, track and cross country running, volleyball, dancing, solo singing, soccer, ice skating, painting, drawing, juggling, cheerleading and flute playing. I can also do various accents including; Australian, English, and Southern.
I love acting more than anything in the world, however, I live in a tiny town in Colorado (we literally have only 1 stoplight and no movie theater, its mainly just houses) and there isnt a film opportunity within 5 hours of my house and they are all parts for extras in class projects. My mom said that if there is way to get a couple of auditions in the summer, we can fly to LA for a month or so to see if I get lucky and land a job. Also, my family doesnt have money for an acting school, and I was only able to do the acting classes because they were like $50 dollars a month. As far as headshots go, my moms friend is a photographer.
I guess my main question is do you think I can possibly get some auditions, even though I only have theater experience??
Also do you think it is okay that I took 1 ½ years off of dance? I had knee surgery and will be dancing again very soon!!

A. http://www.theatrgroup.com/showbiz/actoragent.html
This site is full of good information so it's a great starting point from types of agents to how to get one.
You have a definite edge with your varied experiences and abilities.
There are a number of booklets on agency listings. The one I have found to be good is "The Agencies: What the Actor Needs to Know". It is stapled pages updated every month. You can find it at Samuel French Bookstores and Larry Edmonds Bookstores. If an agent isn't listed in the booklet, they may not be a licensed agent in California. So, forget them. When you do find somebody and they want to sign you as a client, only sign the standard "SAG Contract for Agents." It can be for one or more years and the agent can only collect 10% of your gross earnings. No up front money is to be given to any agent.

I'm going fully deaf and I'm wondering if I'll be able to be a good mother.?
Q. I'll be fully deaf by the time I'm 23 I'm severely deaf right now. I'm wondering if I'll still be a good mother. I know I'd have to pay a lot more attention to my children more so than others but how do other deaf people know their kids aren't screaming in the back yard or throwing up while your sleeping or fall down and start crying when your not looking? I plan to have camera's all over my house so I can keep an eye on them but other than that what can I do? I'm not pregnant and not planning to have a child for awhile but still. I'd like to be prepared.
A. Being deaf has to do nothing with being a good mother. There are plenty deaf parents with children and they are great at parenting.
I was born deaf, so I wear cochlear implant to help me hear, which is much stronger than hearing aids and requires surgery for it. Surgery is completely safe and I had it when I was a small child, so don't worry about it. It works well because of it, I can hear anything. So, if you want to hear your children screaming, getting CI would be a good choice if hearing aids don't work. Hearing aids do not work for me because I'm too deaf for it. You should discuss this with your doctor. If you live in Canada, getting cochlear is free. But if you live in US, it's not free but fortunately there are some implant centers have charitable programs that provide free or reduced-cost cochlear implants. For example, if you live in Colorado, the Colorado Neurological Institute in Englewood, Colo., has a Cochlear Implant Assistance Fund. There are more information on this, go to this link: http://deafness.about.com/cs/hearingaids/a/haidcost.htm
Or if you want to stay deaf. I recommend you to get involved with a deaf community, so they can help you to adapt to a deaf lifestyle. Just know that deaf people are NOT disabled. They are very capable of doing anything, including parenting. Just only that they can't hear. That's all.
If you have any questions, ask away. I will come back and check to see if you have more questions.

A. Humidify your home. Running a cold-mist machine in your bedroom will keep your nasal and sinus passages from drying out, says Bruce Jafek, M.D., a professor and chairman of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. Just make sure you clean it once a week so fungus can't set up shop.
Bathe your nostrils daily. To flush out stale nasal secretions, Dr. Jafek suggests using a commercial saline product or mixing 1 teaspoon of table salt with 2 cups of warm water and a pinch of baking soda. Pour it into a shot glass, tilt your head back, close one nostril with your thumb, and sniff the solution with the open nostril. Then blow your nose gently. Repeat on the other side.
Drink to your heart's content. Drinking extra liquidsboth hot and coldthroughout the day, Dr. Farb says, thins out the mucus and keeps it flowing. Sipping hot teas made with herbs such as fenugreek, fennel, anise, or sage may help move mucus even more.
Blow one nostril at a time. This will help prevent pressure buildup in the ears, which can send bacteria further back into the sinus passages, Dr. Farb says.
Forget your manners. Go ahead and sniffle. It turns out, says Dr. Farb, that sniffling is also a good way to drain the sinuses and escort stale secretions down the throat.
Unstuff yourself with decongestant tablets. The best over-the-counter medication to dry up sinuses is single-action tablets that contain only decongestants, such as Sudafed, says Dr. Farb. Decongestants constrict the blood vessels, put air through the nose, and alleviate pressure. You should avoid products containing antihistamines if you are stuffed up from an infection, says Dr. Farb. "They work by drying nasal secretions and may plug you up more."
Use nasal sprays sparingly. Nose drops are fine to use in a pinch, but frequent use could actually prolong the condition or even make it worse, warns Terence M. Davidson, M.D., an assistant professor of head and neck surgery and director of the Nasal Dysfunction Clinic at the University of California Medical Center in San Diego. It's what the specialists call the rebound effect.
"What happens is that, initially, the sprays shrink your nasal linings," explains Dr. Davidson. "But then the mucosa reacts by swelling even more than before, creating a vicious cycle of use. It can take weeks for the swelling to finally subside after you stop using the sprays."
Walk to clear your head. Exercise, says Dr. Farb, may bring blessed relief because it releases adrenaline, which constricts the blood vessels, thereby possibly reducing swelling in the sinuses.
Press here for pain relief. Rubbing your sore sinuses brings a fresh blood supply to the area and soothing relief, suggests Dr. Jafek. Press your thumbs firmly on both sides of your nose and hold for 15 to 30 seconds. Repeat.
Wash your pain away. Applying moist heat over tender sinuses, Dr. Druce says, is an easy way to wash away sinus pain. Apply a warm washcloth over your eyes and cheekbones and leave it there until you feel the pain subside. It may take only a few minutes.
