A. LASIK stands for LASER assisited In-Situ Keratomileusis, so there is a Laser being used on your eye during the procedure. The doctors will make a "flap" of your cornea using a microkeratome and then apply the Laser to your cornea shaping it and correcting your vision. They carefully replace the flap and you're done. It is important after LASIK that you do not rub your eyes for a couple of weeks to let the flaps heal back to normal. Your doctor will provide shields for you to wear at night so you don't rub your eyes while you're sleeping.
The only really negatives that occur regularly are:
A) Dry eyes, if you have dry eyes prior to the procedure they will be more dry after the procedure.
B) Your correction isn't totally corrected - you may need an enhancement to get your vision perfect.
C) If you have Presbyopia (the need for reading glasses) and you have both eyes corrected for distance, you will still need reading glasses, you can talk to your doctor about possible Monovision or Mini-Monovision if you're just about 40 or over 40.
Laser Eye Surgery is for people with complications in their retinas, or Glaucoma. A Laser is applied either cauterizing blood vessels in a wide range of spots and sizes for retina. It can be used to open angles in narrow angle Glaucoma. It can also be applied to patients that have cloudiness after cataract surgery to remove cloudiness.

A. I had 20/20 the next day, I have heard of people having dry eye problems, but 6 months seems like too long for all that to be an issue. I would go back, or talk to a different lasik Dr. and see what they say about it.
How much is it for the Laser Lasik surgery for your eyes to see 20/20 in New York, I want to pay in cash ?
Q. How much is it for the Laser Lasik surgery for your eyes to see 20/20 in New York, I want to pay in cash ??? Can you please tell me the location and name of the business thanks...
A. There are many Lasik eye clinics in New York (most are listed on the internet) and costs vary. If you find a clinic with a very cheap price, like $350, per eye, that is just a come-on to bring in customers. Once you arrive at your appointment, you will find it costs much more money, though the final price might still be fairly cheap compared to a highly qualified lasik surgeon or eye hospital. These clinics push through as many surgeries as possible in one day resulting in poor patient satisfaction and occasional irreversible surgical errors. No eye surgeon will guarantee 20/20 vision post surgery, although is the general result. The cost of Lasik usually is $3000 to $5000, depending on the type of Lasik practice you are using.
If you really want to go through with this surgery, I suggest you get a physician referral from New York Eye and Ear Infirmary http://www.nyee.edu/ or find out if it can be done through their eye clinic, which might cost less money. They are one of the top eye hospitals in the USA.
Prior to having this surgery you must be sure you are a good candidate. You cannot have Lasik surgery until your vision has stabilized, usually somewhere in your early to mid-twenties, give or take a few years. If you find a doctor unscrupulous enough to preform Lasik, prior to total visual stabilization, the surgery will have to be repeated.
Prior to committing to Lasik, you must research the procedure and the Lasik surgeon or clinic you decide to use thoroughly. Although most people who have had this procedure have satisfactory to excellent results, the small percentage that don't incur severe permanent side effects including, but not limited to, blindness, depression and and loss of quality of life. If you commit to Lasik surgery, you must be prepared to accept these risks and side effects. Lasik is irreversible.
See "Sources" below for more information on Lasik Surgery and the risks and side effect inherent to this surgery.

Why is the white part of my eyes a bit yellow?
Q. Yesterday I noticed that a bit of the white part of my eyes is yellowish (around the corner of my eyes). What can be the explanation for this? I had the Lasik laser surgery in December.
I don't smoke.

A. sometimes, peoples eyes are just liek that, but considering you had lasik laser surgery, you may want to get it checked out if it becomes much more worse.
