What is the e-mail for Operation Smile that does surgeries to reconsruct facial disfigurements for a child?
Q. Child has no right nasal cavity or nostril. Blind in right eye, double lens. Born with a Cleft Tress 3, high pallet. We will be moving to Portland Oregon in June 2006. Have been to a number of specialist in 3 different states. And to no luck can we find a doctor with the abilities or experienced that is willing to do this complicated process to make achange in this childs life. Can you please help us to get in contact with Operation Smile or some doctor with the experience to perform this major surgery or refer us in the proper direction we need to go. We have very little money and only state insurance this I feel puts a hamper for us to receive the proper medical treatment for him.
A. My heart goes out to you.
See the website below. There is not a current surgeon in the Portland area assosicated with Operation Smile, however, check your local area and see what they say.
I know of a surgeon in the San Diego area that has done very detailed work and she is rated in the top 10 world facial recontruction surgeons. I will see if I can find her contact information.

How much is lasik eye surgery?
Q. My vision isnt too bad, I just cant see well far away. Can you give me an idea of how much it would be for both eyes?
A. It varies greatly depending on the level of experience they have, where you live, etc. There are commercials here in san diego saying you can get it or $399 per eye, I had it done and will recommend it very much! I paid $5000 for both my eyes, pretty expensive but I went to one of the best! I scrimped and saved because I didn't want just anyone messing with my eyes ya know!
I am VERY happy with my results, I went from being practically blind to 20/15 (better then perfect!)
So look into lasik surgeons/dr's in your area, and most of them will give you a free consultation. Where you will get your eyees checked to see if you would be a good candidate, and meet the dr. etc. If you don't get a good vibe from one, go to another!

Where can I get a root canal in or around South Bend IN?
Q. I need a root canal and am new to the area, it is on a back molar so will definitely need a specialist. Can anyone suggest a doctor?
A. Root canals, from what I understand, are the result of decay within a given tooth that effect the nerve. In my case, I had a cavity that was really deep and even after I had a filling put in it continued to decay almost all the way to the jaw bone.
The explanation that I got from the dentist is that the nerve of my tooth had died and it needed to be removed as well as the decay and infection inside of my tooth.
Basically what he did was go inside my tooth, take all of the decay out, clean the four canals of my tooth, made a mold of my real tooth and then put a temporary cap back in my tooth. After a couple of weeks the permanent cap arrived in his office and he simply took off the temporary and replaced it with the permanent cap.
As far as the operation itself, I was given a local anestetic and I was awake through the whole thing. I felt no pain at all and I even drove home from the dentist's office.
I've had two root canal operations, one without dental insurance and one with it, and it can be very expensive. When I had it done without insurance the whole procedure, including the permanent cap, cost about $1,300. Believe me it was not fun to have to pay that but you need to have this operation done.
If you wait too long the tooth can become infected, like mine did, and it can spread to other parts of your body and cause serious complications. I waited about two and a half years before I finally had my second root canal done.

The quality of a root canal has to do with the dentist, his equipment, and his specialty. Root canals require crowns, so youre looking at a minimum of $1,000 in treatment. MINIMUM. However, if its a front tooth, youre pretty safe. If its a back tooth or decayed tooth then you should see a specialist and not just your regular dentist. Its only $200-300 more.

Will they make me remove my nape piercing when I get my wisdom teeth pulled?
Q. It was my understanding that if you are going to have any kind of invasive surgery [one in which you'll be put under general anesthetics] they make you take out alllllllll piercings and stuff because they become conductors of electricity.
Does this also count for the removal of wisdom teeth?
No smartassed answers please. k thanks.
