LASIK Eye Surgery, is it worth it?

Q. I want to get LASIK next year, maybe in May when school is out. I'm twenty years old, Ive been wearing glasses/contacts for almost ten years and I have had astigmatism for about seven years. Do you think I qualify for LASIK? Has anyone who's had the surgery had a good experience? Also, if you live near the Dallas, Texas area can you recommend me a good surgeon?

A. I've known 4 people who have had it. For 2 its been marvellous and freed them from glasses/contacts. For 2 others it was a major disaster and has left them with worse vision and still with glasses.

You need to assess teh risks for yourself very carefully. Look at success rates for people of your age with your perscription. Ask what the risks are .What are teh success rates of teh surgeon who will be operating on you? What will they do if there are problems.

this is a decision which needs careful research based on statistics, nto just a simple recommendation,.
