Lasik eye surgery???

the Grimre

has anyone had lasik eye surgery? how was it and how are your eyes know? was it worth it? how much did it cost?

sorry for the question overload im just really curious. =)

Answer
Before doing anything as drastic as surgery to you eyes, get information on what could go wrong as well as positive outcomes. Reread the prior answer. The person is happy about the outcome, but wrote about a decrease in night vision. Would that type of side effect be a deal breaker for you? Also, I believe the surgery is less effective in people who are more nearsighted. Check that out with two different eye doctors, with at least one of them being salaried so he or she wouldn't benefit directly from doing the extra surgery.

Remember that surgery for nearsightedness won't prevent you from becoming farsighted and needing reading glasses as you age.

I haven't had the surgery and I have a wonderful situation as I've gotten older. One of my eyes has become less nearsighted. The other eye is still nearsighted, but with that eye I can read tiny print without glasses. So though I have bifocal glasses for driving, etc., I rarely wear glasses indoors and this is especially great for computer work.

BTW, both my primary care and specialist doctor wear glasses. There are both familiar with the surgery and have chosen to avoid it.

Many people are glad they had the surgery, I don't want a laser anywhere near my eyes, unless I need it in the future for a medical problem such as cataracts.

what can go wrong with a LASIK surgery?

I'm planning on getting a LASIK surgery but just the thought of people messing with my eyes really freaks me out! I'm sick of wearing contacs and glasses so I'm really planning on getting it but is it risky? I heard you go completly blind after 30 years is that true? I'm only 21! thanks in advance, and excuse my )ignorance :)

Answer
it's extremely rare for complications from this procedure to cause permanent, significant vision loss. Also, many complications can be resolved through re-treatment or enhancements of the eye. Complication may include: Reports of night vision difficulties, LASIK flap dislocation, and dry eye are infrequent,
