How much does under eye surgery cost?

Q. My Mom really wants under eye surgery for her bags and dark cirlces. Does any one have any ideas to how much we should be looking to pay?

A. My mom had this surgery a few years ago because she was having health problems and a loss of peripheral vision as a result of the drooping eyelids. I think she told it was about $3500.00 normally but insurance covered most of it because of the problems she was experiencing. Your mother may want to check if insurance will cover her surgery as well.

How to get rid of really bad circles under eyes?

Q. I have really bad black cicrles under my eyes. It go really low under my eyes and darker close to my nose. I sleep around 8-9hrs and using ol'oreal eye cream. Within a couples of weeks after my laser eye surgery I noticed the circles. I don't want to wear makeup. What can I do to get of them fast?

A. They have a new eye roller, garnier nutrisse product that reduces puffiness and bags under your eyes. As for the blackness besides maybe getting a good tan i'm not sure if you can get rid of them without concealer.

Q. I know that I'm saving up money to have the bags surgically removed so are there any tips to keep the bags away from my face. I look really ugly with heavy bags under my eyes and I'm only 25. The permanent bags were a result of childhood allergies.

They do also take away from my face and I'm tired of wearing eyeglasses everyday.

Is there anything for me to easily hide the bags under my eyes before I have under-eye bag surgery?

A. The bags are caused by fatty deposits under the skin.You can try and relieve puffiness by doing a couple of things.You can use tea bags on your eyes and you can also try to use a couple of sliced cucumbers.Some times even a couple ice cubes can help to reduce the size.For now just buy a concealer to use and gently tap it on with your baby finger.Drink tons of water,as this flushes all toxins out of your body and keeps your skin well hydrated.Hope this helps you out.

A. I don't know if you should get surgery for that.
I also have horrific bags under my eyes but I use Clinique products that reduce the bags discoloration and the puffyness, and it works REALLY well! IMO just begin using this and if it doesnt work THEN continue you search.. I hope this helps! (Use all that cash for some cute clothes! :D)

They will most likely suggest blepharoplasty,

Is laser eye surgery worth the risk if it means I can fly?

Q. I want to be a pilot in the air force more than anything. I heard that they allow laser eye surgery in some situations. My vision is 20/60 correctable to 20/10. If I should be so lucky as to get the opportunity..is laser eye surgery worth it? I don't want to ruin my life with a mistake..but I don't want live my life with regret either...

A. I'm no doctor, but as a retired WSO in the USAF, I CAN tell you that eye surgery was actually encouraged among aircrews. There's two types: LASIK, and "PRK". Of the two PRK is more expensive, generally, but provides better results, and was the approved technique. I understand, now though, that LASIK is also acceptable.
Before you spend the money on an initial exam, and possibly surgery though, I would ensure you can pass the other requirements for an Initial Class I Phyiscal:
No astigmatism, and good/excellent depth perception
No significant loss of hearing
No history of asthma, heart conditions or high/low blood pressure
Haven't been unconscious for more than 5-6 minutes since the age of 12. (Being under for surgery is OK.)
Have a sitting height of =< 48". Don't want to leave your knees behind if you have to eject some day.
Not diabetic. History of diabetes in your family's OK, as long as you aren't tested positive.
Not tested positive for HIV.
Not excessively over/underweight for your height, AND at least 5'4" for males, 5' for females (though this can be waivered.
If you're pretty much otherwise good to go, and this is what you really want to do, then maybe you should consider an initial exam. Not everyone has vision that can be laser-corrected.

Q. I have been waking up with puffy, dark under eyes lately. Are there any tried and true products out there to fix this? Could it be a vitamin or mineral deficiency? Are there any "procedures" to correct this? Someone told me there was a procedure that cauterizes the under eye "bag" and closes up the area so water can't rest there. Has anyone heard of this or know what it is called?

A. Most likely iron deficiency if they are dark bags - you can have surgery to fix it, otherwise I reccoment tea tree oil and cold teabags - always works for me!!

Q. I have terrible bags under my eyes. Alot of it is hereditary, but alot of it is also having sleeping problems for years. I've used alot of under eye creams and they don't work at all. I've pretty much told myself that I'm probably going to have to undergo undereye surgery to have that part of my eye tightened. I am over 40, so I'm sure it's age as well.
