What is the army's policy with respect to lasik eye surgery?

Q. I am currently deployed to iraq and going on leave soon and was wondering if there would be a way to get lasik eye surgery paid for by the army. what is the policy on this? I am a deployed national guardsman

A. I'm not sure about NG, but my husband is AD and got it paid for 100%. Since he was an ideal candidate for Lasik, his doc put his name on a waiting list. Took about 6 months, they took him down to Ft Hood to get the surgery. Stayed there for a day, he (as well as about 5 others that day) were driven back the next day. Got a few checkups and has had perfect vision ever since.

Q. I have a friend that wants to get a double eye lid surgery. She lives in KL, Malaysia. I really care for her and need advices of where is the best or better place to have that kind of surgery for i don't want her to just go anywhere and do it. Well, did I state that the double eye lid surgery is a surgery that enhance your look, not any health surgery related.

i am from kl too.. my grandfather had eye problem and we saw this doctor name baljit khor ( im sorry i think that is how you spell her name) her clinic is in ampang putri hospital. im not sure about the price though. i hope this help, she is really a lovely person and my entire family has full trust in her

Is it illegal for doctors to advertise their prices?

Q. I know that their ability to advertise has been limited in some states. But, beyond things like laser eye surgery, and places like k-clinic, I have never seen an advertisement for a general practice doctor's office or a hospital.

If possible, I would appreciate some information in the way of articles, the name of the law, or the reason behind not letting doctors advertise prices.

A. You're correct, most doctors do not advertise their "prices" as you so put it. Doctors are concerned mostly with your insurance, and how they pay for their services. Seeing as mostly 80% of your bill will be paid by them, they want to assure themselves they will be comped for their "services".

Along with eye surgeons and plastic surgeons, who earn their money on "unnecessary" procedures, you won't find too many vascular surgeons buying ad time.
