Can your eyes get worse when wearing glasses?
Q. I play video games a lot, & when I was young I was always on the computer. If I wear my glasses when I play video games (I am near sighted) is it
Possible for my eyes to still be hurt by the computer/tv screen? Also, how can you restore your vision if it gets really bad?

A. Your eyes can get worse if you wear your glasses. But it's not because you're using the computer or watching TV, it's because your eyes were going to get worse anyways. Wearing glasses allows you to see better, but it won't make your eyes get worse, nor will they keep your eyes from getting worse.
As far as improving your vision, there's LASIK, and you have to wait until your eyesight stabilized before anyone will do the surgery.

Is it possible to reverse bad eyesight?
Q. I used to have very good vision, but that has changed I am now nearsighted. Ever since I started playing video games a lot my vision has deteriorated and I want to know if it can be reversed or at least stopped from getting worse.
I also read that nearsightedness is hereditary, is it true and would it stop from getting worse if I stop playing Call of Duty so much? Would eating carrots and spinach help?

A. There is some evidence that the condition of you're eyesight is due to heredity. This is because your eyesight is determined by the shape of your eye and just like your other features, the shape of the eye is due to heredity. Playing video games, sitting too close to the tv, not having enough light while reading does Not affect your eyesight. These things may cause eye strain but will not affect your sight. Eating a well balanced diet will help the Health of the eye but will not affect your eyesight. There is no way to get better eyesight naturally, it would take surgery to change the shape of the eye and that is what LASIK does.
Can playing video games too long mess up your lasik?
Q. I stayed up playing video games last night until 5:30. I woke up at 11 and the vision in my right eye is now not as crisp as the vision in my left. Is this permanent?
A. Hi Miranda, this shouldnt be permanent. But if youre concerned you should call your laser vision correction provider.
Its very important to keep your eyes well lubricated after youve had LASIK surgery. It is for this reason that most laser vision correction providers give patients drops with a strict drop schedule. When you play video games, watch TV, or spend time on the computer, you dont blink as much, so this can dry out your eyes and cause some blurriness.
Hope that helps,
