Who has had lasik before and what are the results?

Q. Are there any side effects you have? If so, how bad is it?

*important Question* how long has it been since your LASIK?

How long did it take for your vision to restore to normal? Did your vision really go to 20/15 as I have read in my researches? Do it correct astigmatism? Does your eyes feel normal, like no dryness or itching or what so ever pain after the surgery? IF you have halos or double vision, how bad is it, Does it go away after a while??

Please help me with these questions, because i am Really really tired of wearing glasses and contacts, and I am really considering to get Lasik.

A. I love it. Painful healing process for a few weeks. No side effects. 20/19 vision. Will need reading glasses someday as this is an eye muscle problem we get as we age. Eyes feel just as they did prior to the surgery. Colors seem more vibrant (to me).

They cured the "halo" issue years ago by broadening the operated area around the pupil. Was very light sensitive for two to three weeks. Saw star-bursts for three weeks or so. Saw faint halos for four weeks or so.

Had surgery in Canada in 2003. Flew up there for better price. Now prices here are compatible.

How do doctors stabilize eye movements like the pupil during the laser eye surgery?
Q. I'm planning to get it and I was just wondering because I have dry eyes which cause me to blink a lot under bright light or even liquid drops. And I have a hard time not moving my pupils.... So how are they going to deal with this??? What do I feel exactly during the procedure and what do I see?

A. Hi I had lazer surgery 1 yr ago and i can tel you that it is painless and as far as the eye moving , they give you valium and use a eye lid spreader which keeps the lids open . the lazer is then put into track mode which links it with your eye and tracks any movement the eye does while the surgery is going on . The surgery for me lasted only 30 secs. First they will numb your eye add a antibiotic as a preventive measure . Then they will put in the eye lid spreader in , don't worry you cant feel a thing now they will get ready to make the flap it is done with a lazer also , at least mine was . now they will line up your eye and lower the lazer then you will feel a quick pop and the lazers suction cup will suck onto your eye , now this will surprise you a bit and you will feel pressure but it is not painful at all , just alittle scary at first by the time you have the next eye done you will be use to it and what to expect . now when they make the flap they will move you over to another lazer which will actually do the corrections to the eye. you will see a red blinking light and a green blinking light you just stare at the lights as best you can . then its over . after the surgery and i mean rite after the surgery you will be able to see , After surgery i was seeing 20/15 in both eyes , now you will be instructed to have someone drive you home and for you to go to bed and sleep , you will have to sleep with eye shields for about 2 weeks and add eye drops very often till your eyes heal up . you will have some blurriness but that will pass as your eyes heal up and the swelling goes down. in about 2 to 3 months your eyes will start to even out and adjust out. What i mean is some days you will have some blurring and other days you wil have clear vision, after 2 to 3 months the vision will get better and better , then it evens out as they say , mine now is 20/20 and i can tell you i was real near sited but i have never regretted having the surgery and i do recommend it to all who are eligible for the surgery . It is great not having to worry about fogging glasses, or rainy days with glasses, now the day after surgery you will feel alittle like you have a eye lash in the eye but it soon passes , you will love the new vision you will have , But with all surgeries sometimes there are risk , they will inform you of this , in percentages the risk are fairly low , but be sure to ask your doctor about them . Well i hope i have helped out good luck and enjoy your new vision.....

Can laser eye surgery correct to and beyond 20/20 vision?
Q. I am getting corrective laser eye surgery (in about a year and a half) and at the moment my vision is 6/24 (20/80). I am wondering if surgery would correct this to AND beyond 6/6 (20/20).

Is is possible to get better than 6/6 (20/20) vision through corrective laser eye surgery at all?

A. Yes many people that have had LASIK see 20/15 a few see 20/10. You need to ask about custom LASIK. Your eye has aberrations besides the sphere and cylinder that we correct with glasses and contacts. Custom LASIK addresses these aberrations. On every laser eye procedure, the surgeon is going to attempt to give you the best vision possible. This has more to do with accuracy than over correction as one of the other posters seems to think.

How much does laser eye surgery improve eyesight?
Q. I have 20/200 vision in my left eye and 20/50 in my right eye. How much would the surgery improve that, if you were to guess?

A. I'm not sure what my exact VA was before Lasik. I couldn't see the big E (20/400) with both eyes, I was counting fingers at about 10 feet max. Now I'm 20/15 in both eyes.

They'll check the thickness of your cornea before the procedure to see if they'll be able to take enough off to completely correct your vision.
