Why does my contact lens blurr at the end of the day?

Q. Every now and then, I would switch from wearing glasses to 2-weeks disposable soft contact lens. I always keep my contact lens clean and follow strict hygiene procedures (I am an optical student after all) when putting them on or storing them. And they're great, up until night time that is. After wearing them for some 6 hours span, I start getting a build up of oil or something and it blurs my vision...as if a thin layer of oil is covering the surface of the lens. Even with a freshly opened pair of contacts, my vision always gets blurred after wearing them for awhile. And yes, I am aware that they could be dry. Lubricant eye drops does NOT fix the problem. So why does this keep happening?

A. The lenses get proteins and film on them due to wear. Also, your eyes can get tired from having those foreign objects in your eyes. Contacts are not natural, and there's a higher percentage of infection and eye strain from wearing them than even having Lasik surgery. I use to wear contacts a long time ago, and I also wore glasses later, because I got tired of contacts. However, I have Lasik now, and I see better than 20/20. I put a few drops in here and there, but the trade off was awesome. Also, there's fewer problems with Lasik surgery than there are with contacts. You do know people have lost their eyesight due to contacts, right? Not good at all. You might want to consider Lasik if you're past the age of 25, because it's a very precise surgery these days with wave guided lasers and all. It's been very wonderful to me. Other people say it's risky, but there's a greater chance of losing your vision from contacts than Lasik. That made me feel much better about the risk, too. Anyway, just a thought. I got my Lasik done at the LasikPlus vision center in Atlanta, GA. If you do get it done, go to LasikPlus. They're really good. They really did a good job on me. Haven't had a lot of problems at all, and I can see everything perfectly well. :)

p.s. Just make sure your doctor has a good record, and check him before he does your surgery. I checked my doctor. No infractions. Check with the Medical Boards, and also make sure he has a lot of experience, too. No quacks! Even check where he went to school and all. Make sure it was a very reputable Medical school and that he had Fellowship training and the like.
