How much money did you start investing with?
Q. Are you a self-employed investor or do you have another job, if so what is it?
A. I began with $5,000
Built it up via penny stocks...to $713,000.
Lost all but $4K in a divorce.
Built it up again to $780K.
Lost it when I became blind.
Four surgeries later and eyes in good shape, I'm again in rebuilding mode, about halfway back.
I'm an investment consultant, also VP of Investor Relations for a Houston company. It's been an incredible ride. Don't let anyone talk you out of your dream, whether it's penny stocks, foreign microcaps or collecting bottle caps.

Do I need to take time off work if I get LASIK eye surgery? If so how long?
Q. I know it depends on your eye time but just a general estimation would be nice.
A. Hi, my name is Dr. Jay Lustbader, and I am an ophthalmologist with LasikPlus.
You are correct that each patient's healing time is different after Lasik. However, the large majority of patients can see very well the day after the procedure. Depending on what your job is, you will probably be able to return to work the day after the surgery! It is important to be careful to avoid anything getting in the eyes, rubbing the eyes, etc., but that isn't a problem with most people's jobs.
Your local LasikPlus surgeons in Houston, Drs. Mattioli and Lampkin, will be able to answer more questions if you would like to have a thorough exam and consultation with LasikPlus. It is a chance for you to talk to a doctor and discuss your personal situation. For additional information or to set up your free consultation, you may call 1-866-953-0282 or visit us on the web at http://tinyurl.com/Dr-Lustbader. A. It should be fine. Just make sure she moves her legs around on the flight. Flexing your calves during a flight is a good idea.
"POST-SURGERY CAUTIONS
Other candidates for temporary grounding include people whove had major surgery (cardiovascular, abdominal, etc.) and some whove had minor operations (oral, eye, ear, nose, or facial), including some types of outpatient surgery. Dr. Wayne J. Riley, director of Baylor Travel Medicine Service in Houston, advises against flying for at least seven to 10 days after minor procedures and at least 10 to 14 days after major surgery. If youre planning a transcontinental or international flight, the amount of time may increase depending on your condition and recovery. "

can eye surgery result in better than 20/20 vision ?
Q. I would like to get lasik eye surgery and i am wondering if it can result in better than 20/20 vision.
A. I actually had Lasik done on both my eyes last June down in Houston. It was quick and painless, but a little creepy too (but not too bad). I went back for 3 follow up visits after the visit. The first one was the next day, to which I was able to drive myself and I tested at 20/20 in both my eyes. The next two visits (1 month and 3 months) I tested 20/20 in my right eye and 20/15 in my left. The nurses told me that with a lot of patients receiving 20/15 vision in one or both eyes is typical with the new technology they are using now. It has also correct some of my night vision problems I had before, like the halo effect on lights.
