How is it like living in the United States?

Q. I come from Western Europe and I've grown up with the American entertainment industry. Most films around here are american produced, all the tv-shows etc. I've grown up with Baywatch, 7th Heaven, Michael Jackson and Beverly Hills 90210 and I just bought the final American Pie movie. Because of all of this, America has a special interest in my mind, and I'm sure for a loooot of people in my part of the world. It's like I just have to see everything I've seen in the movies. Is it really like that in a country across the Atlantic? Hollywood, NYC, sh|tloads of people with plastic surgery, the rich and the poor, miami beach, the ranch state Texas and the insanely christian southern states? The heavy illegal immigration from Mexico, the mountains and the deserts? All the great wilderness with bears and stuff? How is it like to live in this country? To me it seems so surreal. Not necessarily because I think it's all so wonderful to live there, but because of everything that GOES ON there. So, Americans, how is it like?

A. beverly hills is not all of america. That city is like a square mile, and most americans can't afford to live or shop there. not everybody in america looks like david hasselhoff and pamela anderson, but we do have lifeguards on several beaches. 7th heaven i think is a pretty typical family, 10 years ago. michael jackson was a big celebrity and he had lots of fans. i haven't seen american pie but a lot of people here like it. i would say there are very few people who have plastic surgery. there are ads for it everywhere, but most folks look down on the ones who do go and get it done. people are more likely to get lasik laser eye correction. miami beach is rich, new york is concrete, texas has lots of ranches but more importantly thousands of miles of unworked sagebrush fields. the mountains are awesome. you have to go to palm springs to find a desert. i have never seen a bear but i know people who have. lots of deer. it's a pretty place to live, i love the midwest because of the plains and the mountains. the east coast has gads of pine trees. you should come visit. we have dozens of fast food joints in each city. i am jealous that you've been to europe too, lol.
