IV sedation plus local anesthesia?
Q. Im supposed to have surgery, around my chest area, and will be getting IV sedation plus local anesthesia (twilight sedation). Are you asleep during the operation with IV sedation? Also will I feel the local anesthesia injection once sedated? I would appreciate it if anyone would tell me their experience with their surgery under this anesthesia.
A. to be honest i would ask for general anesthesia in your situation.
IV sedation plus local anesthesia is alright during like wisdom teeth removal cuz they also give you an amnesia drug so that you don't remember any of it and if there was pain during the process you wouldn't know it.
with IV sedation plus local anesthesia in the hospital setting for some reason they don't seem to like to add the amnesia drug. at least thats what i've found out from experience.
you will most likely be dead to the world (figure of speech lol) when they inject the local anesthesia but you'll also most likely become aware of pain and fully wake up before they are done with the procedure. i became wide awake during an eye surgery and it hurt like hell and no matter how much local anesthesia they gave me it was still very painful. after they gave me all the local anesthesia and sedation my body could handle and i was still awake and in pain they put me under general anesthesia to finish the surgery. since they didn't give me an amnesia drug along with the IV sedation i clearly recall everything that was said and everything that was going on until the put me all the way under general anesthesia.
i'm really not trying to freak you out but it is something to be aware of and talk to your dr about.

Anesthesia awareness?
Q. scares me to death! Have any of ya'll experienced this?
Anesthesia awareness occurs when an individual is unintentionally aware, or awake, during surgery.
The general anesthesia is somehow incompletely administered to the patient, and the patient's brain is not asleep.
This is what one victim of Anesthesia Awareness said as she recalls the surgical removal of an eye while being unintentionally aware, "Anesthesia awareness is perhaps the most helpless and terrifying feeling in the world."
Think about it : She couldn't breathe on her own. There was a tube down her throat. She couldn't speak or move any part of her body to alert the doctors that she was awake. She finally did manage to move her body, causing the anesthesiologist to administer more paralytic drug. She remained aware through much of her 5 1/2-hour surgery.
I don't think I can watch the movie AWAKE that addresses this....

Extreme fatigue and orbital eye pain (sinusitis)?
Q. I am a 22 year old female. I have been struggling with this fatigue I am not able to feel like a normal 22 year old and have fun because i am just so tired all the time no matter how long or how little i sleep. I have been having eye pain and fatigue for a long time probably since high school. I have went to a E.N.T. doctor and they have done about 4 CT scans and they all show all of my sinus are completely blocked. I have been on 2 antibiotics. Once i did a round of the steroid with levaquin and then when that didn't work I had another round of augmentin. I did not get better. I met with the surgeon who suggested surgery, but i am not wanting to go through that for nothing. He said he does not think it is infection because the antibiotics did nothing and i have been using the nasal sprays for a while. I have also tried the pulmiicourt also. He said he thinks it is inflammation and if he does surgery the nasal sprays can better reach my sinus cavities. I am just wondering if any one else has went through this. I have no other symptoms of a regular sinus issue no congestion, not runny nose, no face pain. Just orbital eye pain inside my eyes when i move them side to side or up and down and the extreme fatigue. I would love to hear what any one has to say. I am going to see an eye pain dr soon. I am desperate I do not want surgery at all. Has anyone had this kind of eye pain and fatigue and had the surgery and got better? or has anyone found a way to help this kind of pain? any suggestions at all thanks
A. I'll share my experience with Levaquin. IF ANYONE HAS TRIED ALTERNATIVES THAT HAVE HELPED RELEASE THE TOXINS, AID HEALING, STOP PROGRESSION --- PLEASE SHARE. I KNOW NOT TO EAT MEATS OR DAIRY PRODUCTS THAT HAVE BEEN TREATED WITH ANTIBIOTICS. Side effects: DID MY USUAL EXERCISE ROUTINE ON THE 7TH DAY OF TAKING LEVAQUIN. IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS MY BICEPS HURT, THEN SHORTLY AFTER THAT MY SHOULDERS HURT, ACHED, WITH SHARP PAINS WHEN I MOVED CERTAIN WAYS --- RESTED, USED HEAT THINKING IT WAS MUSCLE ACHE, 2 WEEKS LATER A NEIGHBOR TELLS ME HOW TOUGH HER HUSBAND HAS HAD IT FROM AN ACHILLE'S TENDON TEAR, SURGERY THE WHOLE PAINFUL EPISODE TRACED BACK TO CIPRO. Are there any supplements that can safely dissolve blood clots?
Q. I have a blood clot in my right leg (a result of foot surgery) and I've been on Coumadin for almost six months. In about a month my doctor is gonna stop the Coumadin. I presume that the blood clot is now considered 'stable' and/or that is the standard medical way of dealing with my condition...but, I'm looking for a supplement that safely dissovles blood clots. I don't like the idea of leaving it there 'as is'. I've read about nattokinase, has anyone had any experience with nattokinase?
Thanks for your time!

A. Safe Alternatives to Avoid Blood Clotting
All seniors need to be aware of their blood clotting mechanism. If our blood clots too fast or too slow, we could have a medical emergency. It happens all the time.
When our blood sludges (thickens), we may not be able to get it thin fast enough to ward off a stroke or heart attack. It is better to err on the side of thin blood.
There are many natural blood thinners, but none of these have been known to cause overly thin blood. Each day I take fish oil, cod liver oil, Viobin, natto, garlic and gingko.
If youre under the care of a doctor, they prescribe Heparin®, Warfarin® (Coumadin), streptokinase, and T-PA (tissue plasminogen activator.) And after most any heart procedure, Plavix® is the doctors drug favorite. They dont tell us what Plavix® does to the skin. Coumadin increases the risk of bleeding under the skin and depletes the body of vitamin K which has an important natural blood clotting action.
Streptokinase has a very short-lived action and over time becomes less effective. Heparin® must be injected and it can lead to allergic reaction, high potassium blood levels, osteoporosis, low blood platelets and even hair loss. And a number of Heparin® batches were recalled last year. T-PA is only administered as an IV, is effective for a relatively short period and is very expensive.
Natural nattokinase (natto) is a favorite because it is packaged in very small capsules with no taste. It is a rich source of protein, vitamin B2 and vitamin K2. Mainly, it contains the enzyme natto. The enzyme natto has the ability to dissolve blood clots. This is known as fibrinolysis. The body produces an enzyme called plasmin which has fibrinolytic properties. But for a variety of reasons, its activity appears to diminish as we age. So the effect of natto is similar to plasmin, but research shows that it is four times more potent. It is a relatively safe clotbuster for most people. I love it because it has been used for at least a thousand years in Japan.
We need to be aware if we have an overactive clotting mechanism. Its dangerous! It leads to a host of cardiovascular problems such as hardening of the arteries, heart attack, stroke, intermittent claudication (leg pain upon exerting), varicose veins and high blood pressure. It is also thought that an overactive clotting factor contributes to senility, infertility, impotence, hemorrhoids, eye conditions involving the retina and fibromyalgia.
The enzymatic activity of natto is not only fibrinolytic (dissolves blood clots), but also it is homeostatic. That is, not only does it break down existing clots, but it also works to prevent the formation of excessive amounts of fibrin and reestablish a healthy coagulation mechanism of the body.
Natto is a clotbuster but unlike pharmaceutical clotbusting agents, natto does not reduce the capacity of the body to form clots appropriately and quickly to stop bleeding. Pharmaceuticals thin blood to the point of hemorrhagecausing huge black bruised-looking places on the skin.
Coumadin depletes the body of vitamin K and therefore limits the capacity of blood to clot when it needs to.
Natto can be taken orally in capsule form that has a longer lasting action, costs less and has no negative side effects. In fact, it has positive side effects such as increased energy, new and better circulation, better vision, less joint and muscle pain and has been used to manage migraine headaches.
You can find natto at a natural supplement company.
