What are the sight Requirements for becoming a fighter pilot in the Marine Corps?

Q. if you have bad eye sight but you have LASIK eye surgery and it is corected to 20/20 are you ok?

A. USN/USMC current vision standards:
20/40 correctable to 20/20
No colorblindness
No nightblindness
No astigmatism
I would not recommend LASIK surgery. If you are going to get your eyes surgically improved PRK is more likely to be accepted. LASIK is normally not accepted as there is a risk during a rapid-decompression or high negative-G maneuvers the flap may pop out of position.

Cost of LASIK Eye Surgery in Canada and Age Requirement?
Q. I was planning on getting lasik eye surgery because I've always had bad eyes (hate wearing contacts). I was wondering what the average cost is in Canada. Is it cheaper than other parts or more expensive?

Also is there a certain age you have to be?

A. Lasik eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

What is the maximum nearsightedness degree one can have to qualify for LASIK surgery?
Q. I heard that Tiger Woods got successful LASIK surgery and he was -11 nearsightedness. My eyes are pretty bad and I need some info on this. Thanks.

A. It depends on each individual, most importantly the thickness of your cornea. LASIK works by ablating, or destroying, some of the inner layer of your cornea. By doing so, it effectively flattens the cornea and corrects your vision. The higher the prescription the more tissue needs to be ablated. So if you have a really high prescription and a thin cornea, LASIK would not be an option. There are a few other procedures that may be an option if LASIK isn't. Go see your eye doctor and get more information.

can a person get lasik eye surgery and go into the marines?
Q. friend and i are debating about it. we're part of the DEP program for the USMC and he's thinking about getting lasik eye surgery. will he be able to? trust me he has really bad eye sight.

A. I would suggest that you talk with a Marine recruiter, first. The Navy might already have a Lasik program to correct vision. If this is the case, your friend could save a few thousand bucks in the cost for Lasik if the Navy does it free !

The navy takes care of all USMC medical care !
