How to fight my fears for getting Lasik surgery?
Q. i'm gonna have it tomorrow, but i'm already scared to death. it's my eye and i will probably see everything. How did you fight your fears when you got one?

I wish you every sucess in your eye surgery 2m. Just think how you will wake up in the morning, and not have to feel around for your glasses, you can see right away. It will be such a tranformation for you to see probably in the first time without glasses or contact lenses.
Just try to think of all the fun you will have with your new eyes. And not have to qorry about carrying soulution and cases for your contacts and your glasses to put on once you remove the lenses.
Try think positive, i know it will be hard at first. The treatment will be over in half hr, you will start to see clearly not long after that.
I have not actually had laser treatment as my eyesight is too bad. Plus ive got other eye issues such as retinitis pigmentosa. So laser surgery is out the question for me.
Please try to think of happy times and what you can do, like swim and not worry about your eyes getting water in them, when wearing the lenses.
if it helps speak to people in the optician im sure they have undergone laser treatment themselfves.

Never needed glasses/contacts since.
Vision was stable right after surgery, but needed special eye drops and shades for a while after.
Great experience, but there are other options. It doesn't fix your eyeball, which is elongated for people with myopia, but it just "shaves" your lens so that you can see clearer. Some argue that because of this, it isn't a "true solution," but you can still see.
If you choose this surgery, you need to take good care of your eyes. It takes about 6 months to fully recover, and until then your eyes are very sensitive, almost like an open wound. It is a serious commitment.

** First Day After Surgery � Most people can return to their normal routines a day after the surgery. You will need to regularly use antibiotics, steroids, and other medications for your dry eye syndrome. Do not rub your eyes for the first 7 days and, while showering, do not let the water strike you on the face directly. Soap and shampoo in the eyes should be avoided strictly. Computer work, watching TV, and reading are acceptable, provided you lubricate your eyes regularly, and blink frequently. Light exercises are OK, but keep the sweat out of your eyes.
** One Week After Surgery � Avoid touching your eyes, as well as keep sweat out of your eyes. Exercises are fine, but avoid swimming, whirlpools and hot tubs. Keep your eyes well lubricated, and use lotions, creams and eye makeup with care, unless advised to the contrary by your doctor.
** Three Weeks After Surgery � Strenuous sports, including swimming, can be started, but with eye protection. You can start outdoor activities, but ensure that your eyes are well protected.
** 3 to 6 Months After Surgery � It will take, at least this much time for your vision to stabilize. Fluctuating vision is part of the healing process and will take time to recover.
It is completely painless, but you smell funky burning smells. It's an odd surgery, but most people can handle it.
You may need re-surgery to correct certain anomalies. It is imperative that you follow your doctor�s instructions after the surgery. LASIK recovery time depends on the care you take with your eyes.

Is Laser eye surgery worth it? and can I Please get some feedback on the cost?
Q. I was told by my eye doctor today that I'm a good candidate, He wants $3500.00 for Plano and $4200.00 for custom. My brother had it done in SLC, Ut for $1600.00 I have other friends that have traveled to Canada to have it done for $500.00 and all are very happy with the results. I live in Boise, Idaho I would appreciate opinions from people that have hade it done. Is this Doctor high priced? Thank you!
A. I can't advise you on price. However, I wouldn't quibble about the money too much - it's your eyes!!! I considered it more important to complete trust in an experienced lasik surgeon using the most current technology.
I paid about $4500 2 years ago, and it has changed my life. No more damn contacts or glasses - I can see under water, go skiing, wear nice sunglasses, and everything is crystal clear. I now have about 20/15 vision.
If you can afford it and find the right doctor with the greatest and latest equipment, go for it.
