Answer
hey
first of all i feel your frustration. i went under intralase lasik surgery in january, 2008. i went through a very traumatic first year cause things weren't like i wanted to be, or like i had with my contacts/glasses. (they still aren't, i have even more problems than just dry eyes but i try not to think about it much..)

i'm gonna cut to the chase, unfortunately your surgeon shouldn't have operated on you since you obvously had dry eyes before surgery. this operation generally makes the situation worse so a person with dry eyes generally isn't a good candidate for lasik. keep using your drops and change the artificial teardrop brand until you find the best one for you. your eye dryness will probably get better in time but keep in mind that you're very likely gonna be at least slightly more dry eyed in the end, compared to pre-op.
you get used to almost anything, just don't try to think about it very much, busy your mind. i know how bad you feel once you start thinking about why you had this operation and how much you'd wanna take it back etc.
if your condition really seems to be bad and not getting any better, ask your doctor about "Punctal plugs". i never went for it but i may in the future. people found those useful in this case..

i hope your vision is much better though? if your only problem is dry eyes. don't worry! it WILL be better in time either by itself or by further treatment (punctal plugs). so don't beat yourself down. and remember that repeating this procedure is known to even worsen things so i'd really not recommend going under for a second time (if it's the case and your surgeon offers to operate once more for a finish).

right now at work looking at the screen my eyes are dry like a desert but i don't notice or worry much. i just use drops whenever i feel dry and try not to think about it. otherwise things may get really traumatical when you're the type who cares a little bit too much about things especially about your body (like me).

i wish you the best and hope that you're eyes are gonna be much better.
take care.

who qualifies for lasik eye surgery?

americanch

hello I'm 16 and I hate wearing glasses but i dont know if i qualify. my mother said she already did some research and theres nothing that can help me

so i can see i just have astigmastism and i'm nearsighted so i dont wear glasses when i read and i usually just wear glasses watching tv or to see the blackboard and driving, etc. its more annoying than anything and i live in NY with the best doctors in the world so its a little less scary

has anyone ever got this surgery? how is it? share your stories!

Answer
Prime candidates are:

*Persons 18 years of age or older for the treatment of mild nearsightedness
*21 years of age or older for persons with high degrees of nearsightedness or astigmatism
*Persons with healthy eyes (free from eye disease)
*Persons with stable refractions (eyeglass or contact lens prescriptions not changing more than 0.50 diopter for the year prior to treatment)
*Persons with realistic expectations regarding what this technology can offer them
*Persons informed of the potential risks and benefits of laser vision correction as compared to other treatments

Disqualifications:

*Persons under 18 years of age. (This is because the eyes may still be growing.)
*Persons who have refractions which are continuing to change dramatically
*Persons with known collagen vascular, autoimmune or immune-deficiency diseases
*Women who are pregnant or nursing
*Persons with keratoconus
*Persons taking Accutane, Cordarone or Imitrex
*Persons with a history of Herpes Simplex or Herpes Zoster involving their eyes

Sorry but you are not qualify yet because your only 16.

There are lots of people who undergo lasik surgery. Here are some of them:

Hope this helps.
