Am i suitable for eye surgery?

Jack H
I am 21 years old with no previous health problems except that my formerly excellent vision began to fade at the age of 12. I have had several new prescriptions over the years at it looks as though my vision may have finally settled. The Contact Lens Prescription for each of my eyes is -3.50. I haven't really had any problems wearing contact lenses other than sometimes i don't take them out for a few days and my eyes get sore. The thing is I'm interested in joining the New Zealand police and this is what they say about glasses.. "Applicants must have good eyesight, defined as a minimum visual standard of 6/12 unaided in each eye, correctable to 6/6 with contact lenses or eyeglasses. There are no exceptions." what does 6/12 and 6/6 actually mean? If i do have surgery which one is better? The price of surgery isn't the issue. I want to have the best and safest procedure possible. So should i go for Lasek, Lasik or PRK. Also if you can give me any additional info relevant to this subject would be great cheers.
Answer
Eye sight is such that 6/6 is perfect eyesight.if the denominator gets bigger then the sight gets poorer.Contact lenses should always be taken off at night do not play in this issue. As for me I stopped wearing contacts cauz I dun wanna take risks in my eyesight at all.I just wear frameless. As for the different types of surgery u should google them to get more accurate info.Especially read people what people have written about them in forumns to get personal experiences.

I am at a real crossroads. I am a 22 year old guy from New Zealand and have no real qualifications. I just want to do something with my life that will give me a purpose. Should I...
a) Join the Police force? (This would require me to get Lasik eye surgery)
b) Learn the Japanese language?
c) Study Journalism?
d) Start my own business?
Answer
learn Japanese it is a beautiful language.. i have two cousins that can speak it fluently.. one of them is in japan right now doing something idk what but it has to be cooler than what im doing ... ie nothing... maybe i should learn Japanese too... altho if you like stoping crime then join the police... you get a gun, pepper spray, and maybe a tazer... sounds like fun... plus you get better vision because of the lasik.. (i wish i could afford that) and you can meet interesting people... and then arrest them!
