I understand that it is free witin the first year of Lasik Eye Surgery, but what if it's been 5 years? How much can one expect to pay?

Answer
It really depends on what laser eye center performed your surgery as to how long the warranty last for. If it has been over five years you should go back to the clinic that you had surgery and have an annual eye exam done to see if you are a good candidate for a re-treatment. It will be the cheapest for you if you go back to the surgeon who initially performed your surgery. He has all your records and knows your eyes and the way the flap was created. If you go to another center it can be costly because it is more work for that surgeon because it can different then what they are used too. I know Dr. Taylor who I work for gives a discounted rate to his patients. You are looking at anywhere between $300-$1000 per eye. Call your laser vision centre and see what they would do or look for your surgeon. I hope this helps.

What happens when you get lasik eye surgery?

chocolatel

Like what do they do? Do they put a lazer up to your eye or what? What happens if you blink during the process? What if you move your head? I need answers!

Answer
I had Lasik 5 yrs ago. They put numbing drops in your eye first, then when they are working you lay down under the laser machine and they place a clamp on you eye to keep it open, it looks like a reverse eye lash curler. Then the Dr. cuts a flap on the cornea and lays it back, next he tells you to look at the red blinking light- this is when the laser starts its job and makes small incisions to let more refractive light into your eye. It takes from 30-60 seconds depending on your correction. Last the Dr. replaces the flap, queeges the flap flat so it reattaches, and WHOLA, you have 20/20. I did have to go back a year later because one eye needed a enhancement.
After care you go home sleep for 4 hrs, they want your eyes closed to start to heal. you wear protective shields in the shower and when you sleep for 10 days. Eye drops and lubrication daily for a couple of weeks. It was the best money I ever spent. Had glasses from child hood.

Can you have a second lasik eye surgery?

lasik eye surgery enhancement
on as with any surgery lasik eye surgery carries risks including ...
lasik eye surgery enhancement image

Just wondering...because what happens if someone had one like 20 years ago, and then their eyesight loses again, they want another lasik eye surgery...

I NEED A PROFESSION TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION

Answer
Yes. What you are asking about is called Enhancement Surgery. An enhancement can be done as long as you have adequate corneal thickness remaining after your first surgery. When Lasik is performed, the shape of the cornea is flattened AND the cornea is thinned. Depending upon how thick your cornea was to start with and how much the cornea had to be thinned to achieve the amount of flattening needed to correct you prescription, you may or may not be able to have an enhancement. But, most people are able to have an enhancement. To know for sure, you will need to go in and find out how much change you have to correct this time and how thick your cornea is now. Your surgeon will be able to calculate this for you and tell you whether you are able to have an enhancement. Hope this helped.

In response to what was said by dog lover, this is simply not the case at all if patient selection is done correctly. If a patient is at least 18 and we can demonstrate that their prescription is stable, the chances of long term stability of a post operative prescription is quite high. In fact the great majority of patients, if they fit this criteria, do remain stable the remainder of their lives. As an example, I had my laser done 13 years ago and my prescription is EXACTLY the same now as it was 6 months after my surgery. And I am not an exception.

Where is the best place for LASIK eye laser surgery in South Korea?

I'm interested in getting corrective eye laser surgery (LASIK) and I want to know where the number one place for that is. I'll pay top dollar for guaranteed results (or as close to it as possible).

Answer
Lasik eye surgery is rather safe if only you are a suitable candidate. As with any surgery, there is a definite risk incurred. You must be screened for suitability and examined by the doctor personally. (Not the sales team to mislead you to get expensive package deal).

If you are a suitable candidate, the risk maybe :-
1.)Dry eyes (temporary)
2.)Regression/ enhancement
3.)Infection (3-5/20,000 for the next 3 weeks)
4.)Flap/ complication of treatment (rare)
5.)Miscellaneous

A suitable candidate for Lasik surgery, it depends on:-
1.)Your corneal thickness
2.)Your power
3.)Your age
4.)A centre with a doctor who is examining your eyes personally
5.)Torough explanation to suit your lifestyle

Always insist on seeing the doctor performing the surgery for you. It is the due deligent of him or her to present the risk and benefit to you in detail personally.

How much does it cost to get lasik surgery done in kerala, India?

Q. How much does it cost to get lasik surgery done in kerala, India?
I am going to Kerala in june. planning on getting lasik surgery done. Can someone tell me how much would it cost and good eye clenic/Hospital

Thank You.

A. The cost of LASIK eye surgery may or may not include any of the following:

Royalties owed to laser manufacturers.
Purchase and maintenance of surgical and technical equipment.
Surgical gowns, gloves, masks, and other sterile and disposable materials.
Medications used before, during, and after surgery, including anesthesia, eye drops, and oral pain medications.
Rent for surgical and office facilities.
Surgical and office staff salaries.
Advertising fees.
Pre- and post-operative evaluations for up to one year after surgery.
Post-surgical enhancement, if needed.
Since many of these LASIK eye surgery price quotes are variable according to office location, the technology employed, and other factors specific to each surgeon, it is important for prospective patients to fully research what they are paying for when they have LASIK laser eye surgery. Be sure to ask surgeons to clearly outline what is and what is not included in their prices for LASIK before agreeing to any payment plans or methods.

Who has experience with lasik eye surgery and would like to tell me about it?

Q. How long does it last? Is the cost/last really worth it? Did it hurt afterwards? Anything else you want to tell me about it?

A. LASIK should last your whole life. if you would ever need an enhancement you could get one done. I had mine done at TLC Vision and I can go in if I ever need an enhancement done and they would do it for free (it all depends on who you get to do the surgery).

No hurt at all after I had it, they give you drops to put in your eyes and eye guards for at night so you don't scratch or rub them.

I could see as soon as I sat up on the operating table. They had me read the clock on the wall.

I would recommend this for anyone.

What is the average cost of lasik or PRK for your eyes?
Q. I want to have mine done and I went to a eye doctor today just to kinda check it out and all went well and they set up a plan for me to make payments and stuff but I was wondering if they are reasonable in the cost to do the procedure. Anyone have any idea as to the cost of this ? Thanks.

A. Hi, my name is Dr. Jay Lustbader, and I am an ophthalmologist with LasikPlus.
You will find that the cost of Lasik or PRK will vary from provider to provider. When comparing prices, there are several important factors to keep in mind. One is what technology you are getting for the price. Some surgeons offer all-laser Lasik, while others are still using a blade. Some surgeons offer custom wavefront treatments, others do not. You want to be sure you are getting the most up-to-date technology for the price you pay. A second consideration is whether the price includes coverage for enhancements, if an additional touch-up is needed in the future. Finally, in addition to price, you should consider the experience of the surgeon and the quality of the staff when deciding where to have the procedure done.
The best way to investigate these issues and to find out if Lasik is right for you is to have a thorough exam and consultation with a doctor. At LasikPlus, we provide a free comprehensive Lasik exam and consultation using the latest technology. For additional information or to set up a free consultative exam with your local LasikPlus doctor, you may call 1-866-953-0282 or visit us on the web at http://tinyurl.com/Dr-Lustbader. Other helpful resources are the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Eye Surgery Education Council.

How long does it take to see clearly after Lasik/Customvue eye surgery?
Q. I had mine done 4 days ago and things are still blurry!

A. That varies from person to person. Several things can affect post op vision clarity. 1) Post op dryness can decrease visual acuity 2) Inflammation 3) Residual prescription remaining following the procedure. 4) Normal post op healing.

So depending upon what is causing your post op blurriness, it may just take time and frequent lubrication or it may actually require an enhancement procedure later on should you not be right on the numbers with your correction.

I had lasik eye surgery in june to correct my nearsightedness. They told me it would take 3 months for my eyes ?
Q. to heal. Its now october and my eyes dont always work right. Like today i woke up and my left eye is blurry. This happens sometimes and its always my left eye. Is this normal or should i be worried?

A. It is not uncommon for the eyes to have increased dryness after Lasik. With that dryness can come blurred vision, especially if the cornea is extra sensitive. We always tell people that "technically" the eyes can take up to a year to really correct to the very best, but that at 3 months they are fairly stable. You may want to increase your use of artificial tears..Systane, Refresh or Genteal are all great products. Try using them at least 3-4 times a day. See if that helps the vision stay clearer. If not, I assume you are scheduled to go in for a 3 month check, so they should be able to tell you if the left eye needs a slight enhancement. Try the drops. As a Lasik provider and also a former Lasik patient, I can tell you that sometimes the drops are the simplest solution for the blurred vision.

Good luck.

How effective is lasik surgery?
Q. I am thinking about getting lasik surgery. I have been told that I am a good candidate by my eye doctor. But, I worry about the effectiveness. I have astigmatism and very dry eyes when I wear contacts. Any advice?

A. I had LASIK surgery when I was 20 years old and I am currently 24. And I have not worn contact lenses or glasses since the day of my surgery!

Personally, I have not known anyone to have anything but wonderful results from their LASIK surgery. However, it can happen that the surgeon (opthalmologist) under-corrects or over-corrects your eyes and you must have a second surgery called an enhancement to fix it. Overall, this is pretty rare though. Almost all LASIK surgeries are done by laser and are VERY precise.

If your eye doctor says you are a good candidate, that's great! It is very easy to correct astigmatism with LASIK as well.

I also had very dry eyes when I used to wear contacts. I was always told that one of the side effects from LASIK is that you will have dry eyes. However, I didn't have that side effect. My eyes felt just fine! So it really just depends on the person.

You will have other side effects such as glare and halos for about 6 months or so after the surgery, and your eyes may ache a little bit right after the surgery or you may feel like you have a piece of sand in your eye right after the surgery. But generally, everyone is totally pain-free the next day!

I actually saw 20/20 the next morning, right after my surgery! It was astonishing!

So I guess my advice ... go for it! It was WELL worth it for me. I love it!
