Is eye laser advisable for someone who has an eye grade of 5.50?

Q. What are the advantages and disadvantages of eye laser? How much will it cost me for having this procedure? Does it hurt?

Answer
Most laser refractive surgery is recommended with people of 6.00 or less. So, this makes you on the edge. Lasik and other refractive surgeries or PRK or corneal rings are very safe. The best thing you can do if you are thinking about laser surgery is to really research the doctors in your area. Stay away from the people who claim it's so easy they can do it over your lunch break. There are some risks as with any surgery. Most practices have someone in charge of marketing and would be happy to either set you up with a free consultation with their corneal specialist or send you more information than you could ever dream of.

As far as cost, my practice charges just under $1,300 per eye. Pain is minimal and I have mostly heard it described as annoying achiness. There will be eye drops for a while afterwards, make sure you are okay with that.

Also keep in mind that not everyone is a good candidate for surgery. There are several tests required in determining whether you can have surgery. You have to have enough eye tissue, no dryness, etc.

Can laser eye surgery cure astigmatism?

Bruce

can laser eye surgery fix a strong astigmasism (like mine) and how old do you have to be to get it. does it COMPLETELY (or at least 50%) cure bad vision? I have had it since I Was baby (I was a premature baby) and some things they did to help me breath apparently hurt my vision. its gotten worse over the years And I was wondering if It can permanently cure me of this. (meaning my vision if repaired does not eventually revert to how it previously was)

Thanks
Also My hospital (kaiser) are ALLWAYS reluctant to doing any kind of surgery (or anything critial for that matter) unless your literally dying of it what can I do to convince them (once I'm old enough to get it)

Answer
yes, lasik can fix a strong astigmasism, and u need to more 18 years old. hope this can help u

Lasik eye surgery is limited in the amount of vision it can correct. The FDA limit who can not undergo the Lasik eye surgery according to the severity of their myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.

â More than â 14.00 Diopter of Myopia
â More than + 6.00 Diopter of Hyperopia
â More than 6.00 Diopter of Astigmatism

Astigmatism : Of all myopic people, 50% or more have astigmatism as well, most of these people have corrections of less than 1 diopter. The classifications of severity for astigmatism
â Mild Astigmatism : <1.00 diopters
â Moderate Astigmatism : 1.00 to 2.00 diopters
â High Astigmatism : 2.00 to 4.00 diopters
â Extreme Astigmatism : < 4.00 diopters
