For people who've had the corrective eye surgery...are you happy with your choice?

I really would love to be able to wake up and not have to reach for my glasses every day but I've heard of some side effects like people seeing a halo at night or horror stories of people having worse vision than they did before. Everyone I know who's had it says it's the best thing they ever did...what are people's reactions? Just curious...where'd you go (what Dr do you recommend if near NJ/NY) and how expensive was it? Thanks!

Answer
well...am from egypt..and i wish i can make the lasik operation cuz i really hate my glasses...ihave had two frinds who have done it ..they say it's great ..and didn't have any trouble after that ..but they told me that the dr. must check on their eye first to see if they could do it or not..cause the surgery is not suitable for everyone..the mother of one of them couldn't do it..the dr said to her that it will be dangerous for her..so before you consider doing anything..go to a proffetional and make sure first that it's ok to do it....:)

good luck dear

Who is the best eye surgeon in NJ?

lasik eye surgery nj

Looking to get corrective eye surgery and I live in NJ. I have heard of horror stories of crappy doctors. I googled top doctors but I keep on getting doctor's websites. Does anyone know of any medical reviews of top doctors in this field? Thanks in advance

Answer
I doubt any surgeon could become known as " the best"

You need to research the laser clinics to find out who is the surgeon at that particular clinic, then check with the Better Business Bureau for complaints against the clinic.

Laser clinics have their share of problem cases that seems to average out to be the same anywhere.

Lasik doesn't require " top surgeon" status, it is all computerized. The surgeons actual surgical skills aren't even used.

Can anyone recommend a good LASIK surgeon in NJ or NY?

I have gone to tow doctors who have said I am a good candidate. One was too expensive and the one with the reasonable price which is the one that I have heard of the most has had 17 malpractice lawsuits.

Answer
What is a "reasonable price" when the risk is your sight? 17 lawsuits is a lot, even by high-volume refractive surgery standards. Are you willing to take this kind of risk to save a few dollars?

These are your eyes, don't cheap out on your vision. It's one thing if you buy a cheap LCD TV and the pixels go bad - you can take it back and exchange it for a new one. But if you have a bad outcome with eye surgery you're stuck with that for life.

Probably the most important decision someone who is considering LASIK must make is what surgeon to choose. Although I do not perform LASIK, I have created a document for my cataract patients to help them in choosing a surgeon. The article can be viewed by clicking this link:

http://sgveye.com/en/resources/35-about-your-eyes/233-10-things-you-must-know-before-choosing-your-cataract-surgeon

The advice in this document can be applied to choosing any surgeon in any specialty, not just cataract surgeons.

Best LASIK surgeon in the Philadelphia area?

I'm looking to find the best vision corrective surgeon (LASIK, PRK...etc) in the Philadelphia area. I am willing to Travel to surrounding states- NY, NJ, Delaware, etc. Money is no object, because I am willing to pay top dollar for the best available. After all- these are my eyes and we only get 1 pair!

I just moved to Philly, so it has been hard finding good references and such. I have a consult at Kremer Eye this week, but I want to get several consultations.

Thanks!

Answer
Bar none, the best place for LASIK is Wills Laser Vision at Princeton, in Princeton, NJ.

They have the latest equipment and all of their doctors have very impressive credentials. They do give free consults, so I definitely suggest taking advantage of that.

They cost a little more, but as you said you get what you pay for (I never understand people who use Groupons and whatnot for laser eye surgery as if it were dance lessons or something).

Good luck! Here's their info:

If You Won $100,000,000 ......?

If you won $100,000,000 in the lottery, what would you do with all that money?
I Would give my parents and my brother a quarter of it. Donate another quarter to various churches, gay/lesbian organizations, and animal shelters/rescue groups.
With the remaining $50 million, I'd put half in to a savings account, and spend the remaining $25 million on myself right away.......
A brand new Hyundai Tiburon, a Hummer H3, 50 acres on a mountain in PA, build and decorate my dream home in the middle of the 50 acres, buy 3 vacations homes - one in Cape May, NJ, one in Virginia Beach, VA, and one in Daytona Beach, FL. I'd get liposuction, Lasik eye surgery, breast reduction, rhinoplasty, septoplasty, laser hair removal, weekly spa treatments.
My boyfriend could retire early and I'd get him a professional dietician and personal trainer.
I'd like to buy a fixer upper apartment building, fix it up, and make it available to homeless people for free.
The more detailed your answer, the better chance I'll give you the 10 points. Just saying "I'll have a big party" or "I'll go to the mall" isn't going to get you the 10 points. Good luck!

Answer
(You can get a breast reduction covered by insurance FYI).

I would get:

A house that is three car garage with an inground pool and sand court for volleyball or whatever.

Two cars (Jeep Wrangler Four Door and a 57 Bel Air).

Pay my brothers mortgage off on his house, my parents cars, help out my favorite aunt with her house as her husband is sick.

Go on a long vacation cruise to Alaska, the Bahamas, cruise across the Atlantic Ocean, visit Ireland and Egypt.

Vacation home in OBX, vacation to Hawaii and the west coast.

Donate to animal shelters/rescue groups, gay/lesbian organizations, organizations that help out those raped and molested, Planned Parenthood.

Might get a tummy tuck.

Put some money in an account for my future children's future (strict rules will apply as I can't stand kids thinking they have a free ride!).

Buy some undeveloped land and make it an offroad park. Buy some more land for a boarding home for animals.

I am looking for afforadable No Blade LASIK in the northern NJ area. West Milford, Wayne, Area?

Answer
Lasik eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Have you had Lasik eye surgery?

If so, what complications did you have? Would you suggest having it done or would you feel it was a mistake to have it done? How did you pay for it? How can you get it finainced?

Answer
Yes, and it was wonderful!

I would highly recommend it - I had no complications. To the contrary, it was over before I knew it. So fast...

Medical insurance doesn't cover the expense - I paid for my operation 'out of pocket' (cash)... I suppose you could take out a personal loan. Certain doctors who do this surgery may have financing available.

The only drawback I have from my lasik is that I get 'halos' at dusk and at nighttime. There is an associated glare with seeing bright lights in the dark. I had halo effect before the surgery, but it has intensified since. It was still worth it to get the surgery..

I was blind as a bat my whole life - wore glasses since the age of 4!!!! Now my vision is 20/20 !!!!!

I went out to Scranton, PA to have my surgery, as opposed to having it in NJ or NY. It saved me about $1500.

Do it!

Lasik surgery half price buy one get one free. I live in NJ and need a partner. We each pay half of 5,500.?
