Lasik eye surgery? Prices in Michigan?
Candice S
Just looking for some accurate prices for this surgery...i have heard everything from 299 to 2000...so does anyone know of the prices in Michigan
Answer
Some national chains advertise Lasik prices as low at $299 an eye, but a look at the financial reports of those same chains will find what they really charge. The average Lasik cost in 2012 is about $1,950 per eye. The price of Lasik varies from about $1,600 to $3,200 per eye, depending on the surgeon and technology, according to David Harmon, president of the St. Louis research firm Market Scope. What is paid by an indivudal will depend greatly on the patient's unique circumstances, which procedure is recommended, and market competition.

Nobody wants to pay too much for anything, but this is microsurgery on eyes. If the best available surgeon is unaffordable, then the wise choice may be to not have Lasik at all. An inexperienced doctor is no bargain at any price.

Has anyone had any bad results from Lasik Eye Surgery?

A year and a half ago I had Lasik from a very well-known doctor based out of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills (Los Angeles, California). Cost was $4500. All the tests said I was a perfect candidate for the operation, but during surgery my eyes proved those tests wrong. The flap was too thin, shredded as it was lifted and stuck together like Saran-wrap. I was left with wrinkled scars on my eyes, causing blurred vision.
Today my eyes have healed enough that I can see without glasses or contact, although I am left with an irregular astigmatism, which causes vision distortions in one eye. I am going to do a second procedure on that eye (PRK) to try and get rid of the irregular astigmatism next month.
At the time this all happened I was devastated. Today, I am so glad I did it, even with all the drama involved. My eyes don't dry out on airplanes, I can actually rub my eyes without the contacts falling out, I cry when I cut an onion now, and I can open my eyes underwater!
My doctor has taken the best care of me and has sent me to specialists to find out what went wrong. He is even paying to correct the irregular astigmatism. I suggest you get to know your doctor and stay away from those $299 bargain deals.
